Your role in a nutshell

Our ecommerce channel beautifully complements our other business channels and as a Senior Business Analyst you will have the opportunity to work as part of a project team to collect and document business requirements within The Body Shop ecommerce and omnichannel space, and to define to-be processes. Alongside this, you will also assist in documentation and support of project testing phases.
In addition, you will be able to flex your Relationship Management skills which play an important part in collaborating closely with other members of the teams and 3rd parties and working alongside Product Owners, Software Engineers, Test Engineers and Business Stakeholders and being part of the fourth biggest beauty brand in the world.

How will this be achieved?


  • By defining and detailing the overall requirements from the business. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring that business requirements provided via the business stakeholders are clearly translated and documented into high quality documents to facilitate the system build process. 
  • Working closely with the Product Owner team to understand key requirement drivers and support elaboration of these into an agreed design approach.
  • Organising and running the requirements and solution agreement process 
  • Breaking down requirements to deliverables that are easy to understand for developers 
    • Delivering clear, concise and accurate user stories detailing customer or user interactions, data flow (and origin) and system interactions to support development
    • Defining detailed requirements and deliverables (textually and with process flows).
    • Reviewing requirements and deliverables with stakeholders and the development team.
    • Communicating requirements and deliverables to the team and clarify if necessary, during development.
    • Supporting the testing team by providing scenarios, data examples and clarifications as necessary.
  • Liaising with business SMEs to understand and confirm business objectives, processes and requirements, and to explain proposed solutions 

What else will you be doing?


  • Supporting business stakeholders and Product Ownership team in understanding relative priority of requirements and proposes phasing options to help the business achieve its objectives.
  • Producing documentation on above, as agreed with Business Architect and Portfolio Lead
  • Liaising with Project Managers and Suppliers to ensure they understand requirements and how the systems will support them
  • Organising and running reviews and demos with business SME’s to ensure they understand and support solutions
  • Supporting the estimation of project deliverables and project resource requirements / timelines. 
  • Identifying requirements that are difficult to deliver, or for which there are alternative solutions; working with suppliers and SME’s to create materials to support business decision making on these – covering implications for delivery and for business process
  • Reviewing functional specifications, user stories, release notes and other materials from suppliers to ensure solutions are as expected and are fit for purpose; raising any queries or issues with suppliers and business SME’s as appropriate
  • Supporting test activity: initial validation of delivered solutions (prior to formal testing); assisting in resolution of test issues
  • Supporting and mentorship of more Junior members of the BA team within your stream

What we look for


Essential experience

  • You will have delivered at least 4 project lifecycles experience in a business analysis role 
  • Your experience of projects has been gained in both the digital retail and ecommerce space
  • The experience you have acquired has been in a senior BA role within an Agile delivery structure (SCRUM/SaFe)
  • You have the ability make the distinction between what is being asked for versus what is the need, and this gives you a proven record of understanding business requirements and key business drivers 
  • A high level of relationship building, and networking skills come naturally to you
  • Having a strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to meet requirements of the business at a strategic and operational levels allows you to identify opportunity or conflict in other projects or workstreams. 
  • You have proven how you thrive in developing requirements and solutions in an environment of tightly integrated real-time systems.
  • Your experience has given you a good understanding of relationship management and change management in large and complex organisations and the key areas in which you can support this, particularly in the area of process management. 
  • You have developed a strong ability to effectively manage relationships by facilitating and influencing decision making.
  • Translating business requirements into high quality, cost effective functional solutions comes easily to you



  • Having experience of implementation or development of SAP Commerce/Hybris would be an advantage in this role
  • Experience in working with Systems Integration partners 


Technical / professional qualifications (desirable):

  • ISEB Business Analysis Modules and/or Diploma
  • Agile certification (eg Product Owner)
  • Degree in Business Systems or IT
