Your role in a nutshell

Director Level leadership for global compliance and controls, supporting the sustainable expansion of the direct selling channel (TBS @ Home) globally in owning the compliance framework within the direct selling channel and supporting the head franchise markets at The Body Shop.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Strategic leadership and implementation of a Compliance and Controls Structure within the global direct selling channel and the Head Franchise markets, which operate within a selective distribution system, at the Body Shop 
  • The Director of Global Compliance is to, build (where needed), manage and maintain the various controls and compliance routines across, ethics & compliance codes of conduct, data privacy, money laundering, selective distribution and generally in the enforcement of key commercial, organisational, compliance policies and procedures  that support the direct selling channel and head franchise markets and uphold the integrity and value of The Body Shop brand. .  This position plays a critical and integral role in the operational activities.
  • The Director works closely with global teams to help implement business critical (and in most cases operational) projects to manage risks (whether legal, commercial, financial or self-regulatory in nature)  relating to legal risk areas and company policies, The Director will set up a fully integrated compliance process, reporting structure and escalation matrix as well as define and implement a Global Compliance Council
  • The role is responsible for project management, data reconciliations, monitoring, tracking, oversight of Compliance and controls defined. The Director maintains and audits databases, prepares detailed reports, and advises on technical procedural issues, controls required.
  • The role will work closing with the Global Business Development Team in terms of assessing the compliance and direct selling compliance landscape in future markets, defining key areas of focus and risk and collaborating to align Global Compliance policy to a new market entry framework

What we look for


* Executive level leadership of the development of direct selling field compliance processes 
* Experience in compliance in a personal and social selling environment
* Extensive experience in regulating a field compliance process and managing governance of compliance committees and process 
* Experience supporting global commission plan teams
* Experience of global reporting and analytics teams
* Knowledge of direct selling compliance, process and procedure 
* Strong business acumen and analytical experience
* Strong impact and influence skills
* Proven ability to present compliance summaries to executive leadership identifying pathways and opportunities 
* Proven ability to manage complex timelines, systems pathways with budget matrix and expectations 
* Experience of working within Critical Path Timelines to deliver end results
* Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skill

* Degree level – post graduate qualifications with some legal or compliance education preferring
* Direct Selling Compliance Experience a must

* MS user including PowerPoint, Excel, Word etc.
* Strong internal consultancy skills – ability to build strong relationships across the business
* Commercially astute – and a pragmatic approach that will get things done
* Comfortable dealing with ambiguity – a flexible and “can-do” attitude to work
