Your role in a nutshell

Accountable for the direction and implementation of The Body Shop (TBS) Store Design and Development (inc. Shop Fit and Permanent VM) within North America (NA), by delivering best in class Retail solutions, effectively aligning and collaborating with TBS Global Store Design, and executing the Company’s VISION, goals and objectives

You will be responsible for translating Global Store Design into NA channels and formats. You will own the development and design of the new refill stations and makeup stations, including managing all refurbishment and ensure alignment with global store design guidelines and commercial viability

As the Subject Matter Expert, you will work within our Purpose framework, Brand Visual and Verbal guidelines, the Global Design Intent Principles and the strategy set up by the Global Brand Director, in close partnership with Global Store Design and VM Team

  • Work with store development team,adhere to TBS brand concept guidelines
  • Deliver NA Store Design & Development Strategy,align with Global vision,working with NA President, Head of Retail, Brand Director & Global Store Design Director 
  • Ensure existing estate is kept up to date across NA
  • Provide competitor insight for markets so TBS can challenge/succeed in complex environments
  • Technical design input on site specific needs & implementation support
  • Develop & align store design roadmap,meet delivery&budget goals
  • Consult in capital management,resource & schedule planning for store fit-out,market planning & construction,point of contact b/w Store Design&stakeholders
  • Manage NA development budget
  • Ensure NA markets have adapted guidelines for changes to current store design& permanent store VM
  • Manage global shop-fit supplier team to deliver store fit out development,quality checks & fixture forecasting
  • Negotiate contracts 
What we look for
  • 10+ years of direct progressive experience in retail concepts, branded architecture & experiential design with a major beauty retail company
  • Stong ability to hand sketch to convey design ideas & concepts quickly to leadership & business partners
  • Background in store design development and VM - technical proficiency required to standardize fixture package, fixture detailing & new fixture development
  • Robust understanding of  beauty sector, proven ability to deliver best in class design 
  • Strong construction knowledge and/or extensive experience of  in store design implementation, strong practical understanding of how to problem-solve  on site 
  • Shop fit managemement experience -working as an agency account manager for shopfitters or general contractor is advantageous
  • Ability to effectively present  & communicate creative ideas and concepts to cross-functional teams
  • Ability to  influence stakeholders across the business & externally
  • Understanding of how store design projects impact other functions (like IT, Digital etc.), experience building this into plans/ connecting departments
